About John Bommarito
President of Bommarito Automotive Group in St. Louis, MO
John Bommarito has charted an extraordinary path through the automotive industry, having been born into a deeply rooted lineage valuing relentless and diligent work ethic. Starting at just twelve years old, John's introduction into the automotive world began with parking and washing new car deliveries, and when his journey took a pivotal turn at fifteen, he was promoted to the service department to witness and learn the backbone of the business. John's academic perseverance shone brightly while attending Christian Brothers College High School, spending after school hours working at the Ellisville automotive location while simultaneously graduating in the top two percent of his class and earning academic scholarships to attend Eckerd College. He graduated with honors and a Psychology/Premedical degree in 1987 but opted to forego a promising path in medicine, choosing to satiate his strong automotive desires and steering his life's trajectory towards an industry he was destined to redefine.
Expanding Horizons: From Sales to Leadership
Under John's stewardship, Bommarito Automotive Group evolved from a local dealership into a multi-faceted automotive powerhouse. John's knack for recognizing opportunities and his unwavering commitment to growth propelled the family business to new heights. His strategic insight played a pivotal role when he took the reins of Bommarito Cellular, steering it to become a wildly successful movement in the mobile phone sector. This same visionary approach was seamlessly translated back to his beloved automotive pursuits, where under his guidance, Bommarito Automotive Group not only expanded its brand portfolio but also significantly increased its market presence to become one of the most widely known dealership groups in the country, staking its claim as one of the top 50 dealers out of over 17,000 franchised dealerships in the US.
Strategic Growth and Diversification
John's impact on dealership revitalization is nothing short of remarkable. Under his leadership, Bommarito Automotive Group has experienced a renaissance of growth and diversification, beginning with the purchase of an Oldsmobile-Cadillac store on the brink of bankruptcy in 1992 to its unrecognizable transformation into a thriving hub for Missouri car buyers. With the introduction of new brands such as Audi, Chevrolet, Honda, Volkswagen, Ford and Toyota, the family business evolved alongside the ever-growing needs of the St. Louis community and the metroplex's continued expanse over time. His strategic acquisitions, along with Bommarito Automotive Group's consistent performance on individual dealership levels, prove an unmistakable commitment to excellence and a deep understanding of the automotive market's intricate dynamics.
A Legacy of Innovation and Community: Bommarito Auto Sports
John Bommarito's visionary leadership extends beyond dealership doors, revving the adrenaline of racing enthusiasts and the broader community. A single race collaboration with Jordan Anderson Racing in 2015 led to the launch in 2017 of Bommarito’s partnership with Jordan Anderson Racing in the NASCAR Truck Series. That same year, Bommarito joined forces with Gateway Motorsports Park, now World Wide Technology Raceway, to become the Title Sponsor of the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 IndyCar Series race. The first year’s sell-out success led to a multi-year agreement with the raceway, moving into its 8th Annual race weekend. After several Top 5 and Top 10 finishes in the NASCAR Truck Series, including back to back second place finishes at the prestigious Daytona International Speedway in 2020 and 2021, the partnership with owner/driver Jordan Anderson was rebranded as Jordan Anderson Racing Bommarito Autosport. This new stronger partnership allowed the team to expand into the NASCAR Xfinity Series, finishing its first official race in 8th place at COTA with driver Tyler Reddick in the No. 31 car. The team would go on to have six Top 10 finishes in its first season. In 2022, the team would sign full-time driver Myatt Snyder, who would complete the season with four Top 10 finishes. Big moves were made in 2023, with the signing of Parker Retzlaff to the No. 31 car and the addition of a second car with veteran driver Jeb Burton at the wheel of the No. 27 car. In just two short seasons, the team has accomplished 23 Top 10 finishes, eight Top 5 finishes, the team’s first win with Jeb Burton taking the checkered flag at the iconic Talladega Superspeedway in 2023 and a qualifying pole position for Parker Retzlaff at Richmond Raceway in 2024.
