  1. St. Louis Zoo

The St. Louis Zoo is one of the top zoos in the U.S., but unlike many other top zoos in the nation, entrance to the St. Louis zoo is free. Some of the exhibits and experiences like the Carousel and the Children’s Zoo charge a separate fee; however, if you get to the zoo as soon as it opens, they’re free for the first hour. You can even find free parking if you’re willing to do a bit of walking.

This zoo is home to more than 5,000 animals from all over the world. From the Penguin and Puffin Coast exhibit to the baby elephants, you’re sure to have a fun experience during every trip to the St. Louis Zoo without spending a dime.

  1. St. Louis Art Museum

When the word “free” is carved in stone like it is at the entrance of the St. Louis Art Museum, you know you’re in for a great, no-cost experience. The museum features art history works from almost every region and era. You can observe and appreciate over 30,000 paintings, drawings, and sculptures. The museum is best known for its twentieth-century German paintings, but it also features a strong collection of pre-Columbian and early American art.

Little ones will enjoy the museum’s kid-friendly tours and activities that are available on Sundays. Or, if you’re looking for a fun night out, you can stop by on a Friday for free ticketed exhibits, a lecture, and live music.

  1. Anheuser-Busch Brewery & Biergarten

If you’re a beer fanatic, you’ll enjoy a free tour of the Anheuser-Busch Brewery. You’ll learn all about the brewing process of Budweiser and other Anheuser-Busch beers as well as discover St. Louis’ history of beer-making. Some might say that the best part of the experience is the free sample that is passed out at the end of tour to those that are 21 and older.

  1. St. Louis Science Center

If you’re looking for a fun and free experience for the whole family, the St. Louis Science Center is the perfect place. You’ll enjoy hands-on exhibits like the Life Science Lab where you can interactively learn about ecology, health science, and genetics. Another fun and free exhibit is the Ecology and Environment exhibit where you can dig up fossils, observe a Tyrannosaurus Rex find his dinner, watch a tornado form, and feel an earthquake beneath your feet.

While some exhibits and the OMNIMAX Theater require purchased tickets, there are more than enough free activities to keep you and your family busy for the day.

Whether you’re looking to explore nature, view some art, listen to live music, or sip a fresh beer, you’re sure to find something to meet your interests and your budget in the city of St. Louis.
