The 2022 Mazda3 may bear the number three in its name, but it’s a number-one pick in quality.

2022 Mazda3 Basics

For 2022, this compact car is celebrating nearly two decades on the road. In its fourth generation, the Mazda3 continues to evolve and innovate. It features six available trims:

2.5 S

This base trim comes with the lowest cost of just over $22,500. Its 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine pumps out about 186 horsepower for roughly 30 combined MPG of fuel economy. With front-wheel drive and six-speed automatic transmission, you’ll have a more than capable drive. Up the style factor with a matte-finished front grille, 16-inch wheels, three available exterior colors, and sport seats (seating up to five) with adjustable headrests.
You can also take advantage of a three-year trial of Mazda’s Connected Services, Apple CarPlay integration, and the Mazda Harmonic Acoustics eight-speaker audio system. Safety and driver assist features include Mazda’s Radar Stop-and-Go Cruise Control, automatic high beams, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.  In addition, Mazda Connect infotainment boasts 911 automatic emergency notification.

Select

The Select trim offers a few safety enhancements, such as blind spot monitoring and integrated turn signals for the power side mirrors. The wheels also get a bump up to 18 inches. Plus, the number of paint colors doubles from three to six, with Soul Red Metallic, Platinum Quartz Metallic, and Machine Gray Metallic joining Snowflake White Pearl Mica, Jet Black Mica, and Deep Crystal Blue Mica.
Dual-zone climate control and a rear-center armrest make things more comfortable, as does the upgrade from cloth-trimmed to leatherette-trimmed seats (accompanied by a leather-wrapped steering wheel).

Preferred

If you’re looking for even more comfort, this trim might be your preferred choice. Those upgraded front seats now come heated and with memory settings. You’ll secure a memory feature for your power side mirrors, too. Better yet, both drivers and passengers score illuminated vanity mirrors. Storage-wise, you’ll receive aid from above with an overhead console.
The front bumper gets some love with a glossy black finish, and a one-touch moonroof lets you view the friendly skies.

Carbon Edition

Available all-wheel drive makes its debut in this sleek, dark beauty. While you’ve just got one color option—Polymetal Gray Metallic—it’s more than worth the price of admission. See how strikingly it melds with that stunning red leather upholstery and those equally amazing black-painted wheels. Trade in the capable eight-speaker audio system for a booming Bose 12-speaker with AudioPilot.

Premium

All-wheel drive is now the standard, as are paddle shifters and a bold aluminum speaker grille. Your tech levels up as well, including an Active Driving Display in full color, enhanced navigation, traffic sign recognition, and a trial subscription to Sirius. Your full palette of color options returns, which you can complement with either a white or black leather interior.

Turbo Premium Plus

For maximum performance, this powerful trim ups the ante with a Dynamic Pressure Turbo Engine delivering 250 horsepower: a mighty roar for a compact ride. Other upgrades include a de-icer for your windshield, auto-dimming rearview mirrors, a heated steering wheel, and the availability of the Carbon’s Polymetal Gray Metallic finish.
